- Avocado trees grow up to 20m tall
- Half an avocado provides one of the five-a-day portions of fruit or vegetables
- They contain 60% more potassium (which regulates blood pressure) than bananas
- They are also high in monounsaturated fat, which lowers LDL cholesterol (the bad one)
- A ripe avocado is firm but yields to gentle pressure. Put them in a brown paper bag with an apple overnight to speed up the ripening process.
